ISG has helped the University of Birmingham launch its first ever global campus, with the completion of the phase one fit out of a state-of-the-art teaching facility in Dubai. The University of Birmingham is the first global top 100 and member of the UK’s elite Russell Group of universities to establish a campus in Dubai, creating a world-class learning environment for students from across the UAE and beyond.

ISG was appointed to deliver the first phase of the campus over an accelerated 12-week programme to accommodate the University’s first intake of students in autumn 2018. Encompassing 28,000 sq ft of space, ISG successfully delivered a range of advanced facilities, including a 180-seat lecture theatre, a fully equipped science teaching laboratory and a state-of-the-art computer laboratory. The scheme also included the provision of digitally connected teaching spaces, tutorial rooms and seminar facilities, with ISG installing the very latest digital infrastructure to support the future growth of the campus.

The University of Birmingham already has a global presence, with students in Singapore and China able to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses with the highly regarded institution. The University’s first global campus in Dubai now further extends the opportunity for aspirational students to study in a purpose-built learning environment.

The new University of Birmingham Dubai campus will accommodate several hundred students. The University is planning a second phase of expansion to increase the capacity of the Dubai premises.
